Casio CT-S200 piano – review and opinion of this digital keyboard

The Casio CT-S200 piano is part of the large Casio brand family. Available at an attractive price, this beginner-friendly model allows you to start piano practice with ease. If this musical instrument interests you, you’re in the right place! Indeed, I’ll attempt to teach you more about this digital keyboard.

First, we’ll examine the features of the Casio CT-S200 piano, after which we can read various user reviews of this digital piano. I’ll conclude by sharing my opinion on this entry-level model.

Let’s go – let’s look together at the interesting elements offered by this musical instrument!

The Casio CT-S200 piano has numerous advantageous features that I’ll list in this chapter.

  • Lightweight and easy to transport thanks to its handle
  • Battery operation for outdoor playing
  • Perfectly suited for beginners
  • Numerous sounds, rhythms, and pre-recorded music available
  • Headphones and USB/MIDI jacks ports
  • Connection to learning applications
  • 61 keys, fewer than a classic piano which has 88
  • Piano stand and sustain pedal sold separately
  • Less dynamic touch than a real acoustic piano

As you can see, the Casio CT-S200 piano doesn’t lack compelling features! Now that you know it better, let’s look directly at reviews about it.

  • Portable digital piano: The Casio CT-S200 is a portable digital piano. This means it’s easily transportable wherever you want, especially with its very practical handle! You can of course buy a piano stand to ensure optimal playing position.

  • 61 keys: With a total of 61 keys, this model will allow you to play the vast majority of existing pieces. Know however that a classic piano has 88, so you may occasionally be limited. If this is a problem for you, I can recommend the Rockjam 88 or the Korg Liano.

  • Battery operation: The Casio CT-S200 operates wirelessly with batteries. Therefore, you can play wherever you want, indoors or outdoors.

  • Headphones and USB/JACK ports: Additionally, this digital keyboard allows USB connection to a computer. Most importantly, you can connect it to headphones and play without disturbing those around you. You’ll just need to get headphones by consulting this section!

  • Numerous sounds and rhythms: Among the Casio CT-S200’s features are a wide range of 400 sounds, 77 rhythms, 10 reverb levels, and 60 pre-recorded songs!

  • Applications: Finally, the Casio CT-S200 can connect to the Dance Music Mode app, an application that facilitates musical creation for beginners. The best in my opinion remains Casio Music Space which allows you to learn musical pieces! For this, you’ll need to connect the instrument to a device (tablet, computer, or smartphone) and install the application. This is an excellent way to learn and progress.

Casio CT-S200 piano review

Is the Casio CT-S200 piano really worth it? To find out, let’s analyze the various feedback left about it.

This musical instrument has a very good overall rating! This doesn’t surprise me and the Casio CT-S200 really deserves this rating.

Positive reviews are truly numerous and praise the Casio CT-S200‘s durability and portability. Casio is indeed not at their first attempt and knows how to manufacture solid and practical products. Many people also appreciate this digital keyboard because it’s suitable for beginners. With so many educational tools, it’s clear you’ll get your money’s worth! Finally, some feedback highlights the speaker quality which they judge amply sufficient for a product in this price range, and I completely agree with them!

Few negative reviews affect the Casio CT-S200 piano, but some users will nonetheless note touch response that’s not dynamic enough. It’s true that at this price point, you can’t expect models as well-finished as the Roland FP-10 or the majestic Classic Cantabile UP-1, but it’s still a remark worth noting. Let’s remember that in this price range, we could have had much worse!

Casio CT-S200 piano test

I’m frankly amazed by the performance of a piano sold so cheaply. Seriously, how do they do it at Casio? The Casio CT-S200 piano manages to mix durability, practicality, quality, and low price. And that’s strong. Very strong even!

In the range of 61-key Casio models, advantageous prices are always present. From the Casio CT-S100 to the Casio LK-S450, the brand truly offers a panel of solutions for beginners. This keyboard obviously doesn’t stop there and offers us other functionalities. Beyond the 400 sounds which are more gimmicky to me than anything else, I’m amazed to see that the Casio CT-S200 piano allows learning numerous pieces via a dedicated application. That’s still crazy for such an inexpensive model!

I must note that there’s no sustain pedal included. After offering you the stand, here is the pedal (available here)! This remains a detail obviously. Keep in mind that the Casio CT-S200 piano won’t be suitable for advanced pianists. It’s certainly an excellent discovery and learning tool, but you’ll quickly be limited past a certain point. At that moment, you’ll need to move to better touch response and 88 keys, and prices will quickly rise! A small budget will then be satisfied with the Alesis Recital Pro, while a buyer more open to spending could go for console digital pianos like the Classic Cantabile DP-230. Yes, everything is always a question of budget in this unfair world…

With its attractive price, durability, portability, and multiple learning functions, there’s no doubt that the Casio CT-S200 is the most complete entry-level model.

It doesn’t lack much to be perfect. A piano bench plus a stand and sustain pedal included with delivery would make it as irresistible as the Alesis Melody 61! But we forgive Casio who nonetheless allows us to have a piano from a reputable brand for almost nothing. Its best assets will be its numerous learning functionalities and also its excellent value for money. It’s indeed difficult to do better for so little money! Don’t forget that the Casio CT-S200 is primarily aimed at beginners. I’m therefore not responsible for material damage in case of attempting to play Liszt’s Hungarian Rhapsody No. 2 on such an instrument! But well, before getting there, this instrument will work perfectly.

For my part, the Casio CT-S200 piano is a clear success. And if you think the same, it’s high time to get started with it and let it accompany you in your learning!
